Traveling is an exciting time, and when it involves studying abroad, you’re opening yourself up to a whole new country, culture, and experience like never before. You’re also opening yourself up wide to the possibility of feeling homesick.

Whether it’s your very first time away from home or the longest you’ve ever been gone, homesickness can hit hard. Add to that attempts to focus on your studies while abroad, say in Finland, Spain, or Italy, and you have numerous things causing an increase in stress which can weigh you down mentally.

What is Homesickness?

Homesickness itself is defined as a form of emotional distress and anxiety resulting from a feeling of disconnection from family, friends, places, and routines. It can arise from feelings of being cut off from everything familiar and being thrust into a totally new culture that you don’t understand yet.

The most common symptoms include isolating yourself and rejecting invitations from others. You may also feel the need to call and speak with familiar voices far away for reassurance all the time. The more isolated you feel, the more potential there is for unhealthy habits to develop, including substance abuse and addiction.

Studying abroad brings with it many challenges, and maintaining your mental health is essential when you’re so far away from what you know. You can, however, stay connected to home while still learning to adapt and thrive in your new surroundings. In other words, you can work through it and begin enjoying your new country and unique experience in no time.

Tips to Alleviate Homesickness When Studying Abroad

Feeling homesick is common, but there are several things you can do to help. While everyone responds differently when away from home, some of the tips below should help you move past your homesickness or at least help you find ways to cope with it.

1. Create a comfortable space and make it your own

Find a spot in your new home or room and make it your own. Feeling in control over this one space can serve as an anchor for you, knowing you can always return to it whenever you like. Make it a comfortable spot you enjoy returning to at the end of the day or waking up in every morning.

Add family photos and anything else that reminds you of home and those you love. Even if you share a room, you’re likely to have a corner or shelf of your own you can use for this purpose.

2. Make some new friends

Making friends in your new location provides a way to connect with others and feel less isolated and lonely.

When you connect with others, you bring out the best in yourself. Studying abroad already provides a layer of structure to your days and a venue for meeting others in similar circumstances. Others may feel the same way as you and will be grateful if you initiate an outing or gathering. Explore the surrounding area together and get to know a few locals.

3. Confide in others

Holding all your emotions and worries inside and not expressing what you’re feeling can negatively affect your mental health. Once you’re acquainted with a few people, mention how you feel.

They may be struggling with similar issues or be already comfortable traveling and being so far from home. Whichever it is, together, you can get through it and possibly enjoy the experience more knowing you are there to support each other.

4. Practice self-care

Practicing self-care while you’re abroad will benefit both your physical and mental health. There are many ways to go about self-care, so choose the ways that work best for you.

As a coping tool, exercise is at or near the top of the list of ways to keep anxious thoughts away. It also helps you stay healthy in your new environment. Give yourself time to get oriented, then seek out what you need to stay healthy. Maybe it’s a bike to ride to the park or a gym in town.

Also, watch what you eat. Stress can lead to excessive overeating and weight gain. It can also lead you to seek ways to suppress your emotions, such as by substance abuse.

If there is something you enjoy doing at home, find a way to do it in your new location. Love reading? Find a bookstore where you can linger and schedule time there as often as you can. Enjoy yoga? Join a class and make time for it on a regular basis to make you feel like not everything in your life changes at once.

Your mental health is as important as your physical health, so find ways to keep it healthy also. Recognize when addictions and negative feelings invade your mind and have ways to alleviate them. Therapeutic journaling is a helpful way to counter these, as is practicing meditation.

5. Give Cultural Immersion a Try

At first, your new location may feel daunting, but after a short time, give yourself over to exploring what it has to offer. Experience the culture of the country. Try new foods and stay curious.

Once you learn a little about where you are, it can start to feel less foreign and a little more like home. You may even start traveling on the weekends to explore other areas.

6. Find A Familiar Location

Seek out a nearby spot that reminds you of home. It may be a park bench with views of spectacular oak trees, a rock outcropping on the nearby coast or river, a library table and chair, or a quaint café.

Spend time looking around, learning about your new culture, and finding something familiar to anchor you. Whenever you need a small dose of home, return to this familiar location for comfort.

7. Insert Some Routine into Your Day

One reason many students experience homesickness is the feeling of a lack of control. You can circumvent this by establishing a routine.

Inserting some routine into your day helps you feel in control of your life, such as the time you wake for breakfast, when you will exercise, or setting study times.

Part of traveling, studying abroad, and living overseas are the new experiences you can have, so don’t lock down your schedule completely. The longer you are away, the more comfortable you can become at letting go and being open to the full experience.

8. Schedule Time to Connect with Family and Friends Back Home

Set up a schedule for making calls or video chats with those back home. There’s likely to be a time difference between there and where you are now, and this can help you be sure everyone is available.

Try not to obsess about checking social media and emails. Determine when and for how long you will connect this way. Also, instead of seeing only what others are doing, let them see what you’re doing. Share the experience with them as well.

9. Seek Help

If you find you just can’t move past your homesick feelings, ask your coordinator or other official with your study abroad program if counseling help is available. You may be paired up with other students who volunteer to help newcomers, or you may be referred to a local counselor.

Studying abroad is an exciting opportunity of a lifetime, and you don’t want a feeling of being homesick to ruin it for you. You can find ways to cope with it and eventually release it with any of these tips. Above all, take deep breaths and be as kind to yourself as possible. You’ve got this!

In decades gone by, people associated padlocks, cameras, and electric fences with security measures that could good an effective job at helping to protect and keep your business safe and secure. However, many threats to the security and welfare of your business in 2022 come from computers and online sources. As a result, managers and business owners need to ensure that staff undergo adequate cyber security training courses. Find out more in this practical guide we’ve come up with on providing cyber security training to staff.

eLearning Training Programmes From Reliable Providers

You can do many things as a business in house, such as onboarding, recruitment, HR, administration, and accounting. However, providing your staff with trustworthy cyber security training in house can be tricky if you don’t have your own cyber security specialist with extensive knowledge of how to train others to an optimal level on the subject.

It could be better to find an external provider to give your staff in-depth e-learning courses on cyber security that equip them as professionals for all the pitfalls of the cyber world today. Read here to find out more about the WahooLearning Learning Management System platform and how your employees can access it to expand their understanding of vital issues like cyber security.

Employees Must Stay Up To Date On Cyber Threats

Much like real-life viruses or bugs that can mutate and change over time, cyber-based viruses such as malware, spyware, and so on also do the same. This means that it gets more challenging to detect pesky cyber security threats as time goes by.

Of course, you can put up a sturdy firewall system as a company. Yet, unfortunately, these days, many viruses are smart enough to know how to get around firewalls and still cause damage to your business’s computer systems. Try and ensure your staff receive training at regular intervals that allows them to stay entirely up to date on cyber security issues and be aware of the latest threats and how they can adequately deal with them.

Employees Should Be Careful When Handling Paperwork

Vital information about cyber security and online passwords, and so on are, sometimes written down on paper. Therefore, staff must be careful about how they handle such items of necessary paperwork. Remind staff about shredding paperwork they deal with in the office and not putting client information into public bins.

For instance, you’d be shocked at the lengths that cybercriminals go to access important private pieces of information these days. Although a lot of important information is stored online, your staff still needs to be aware of the consequences of being careless with essential items of paperwork.

Ensure Your Staff Stay Vigilant On Cyber Security

One of the key pillars behind your staff adhering to the basics of cyber security is for them to remain vigilant. For instance, they are coming up with hard to guess passwords instead of creating ones that are overly obvious and easy for potential hackers to guess without breaking a sweat.

Staff must also be informed about how to store confidential information safely on a computer system. Failure to do so could lead cybercriminals to steal your customers’ personal or confidential information and take money from their bank accounts.

Therefore, not training your staff adequately on cyber security matters could lead to your company losing the trust of your customers. All business people know the vital importance of holding onto your loyal customer and expanding your customer base over time as essential for successfully growing your business.

Staff At All Levels Must Be Cyber Security Savvy

Administrators, people working in grounds and maintenance, technicians, executives, account managers, staff at all levels across your business organisation need to be cyber security savvy in 2022. Your company’s cyber security won’t work if there are floors due to certain members of staff knowing having very little cyber security training compared to others.

To raise the overall standard of cyber security, the coverage of cyber security training amongst your employees needs to be equal in nature. Your administrative staff, for instance, will have to deal with confidential and private information that mustn’t fall into the wrong hands on a day-to-day basis. If you come across staff who persistently show themselves as unwilling to learn more about cyber security and how it affects the business, it could be a good idea for your company to train them up and make change happen. Or else they may need to be dismissed.

This is a practical guide explaining why providing satisfactory cyber security training to staff members is essential for businesses operating in today’s digital world. Like many other areas in society today, the professional world has now gone online. Businesses that fail to adapt and develop solutions by adequately training their staff about cybersecurity through practical things like bespoke training courses risk getting left behind by their competitors. Economic competition is fierce between businesses of all sizes in 2022.

A lot of students choose to Study Abroad in Italy!

Have you ever wondered why? Today I’m going to give you 7 valid reasons why you should choose Italy where to keep up with your studies.

Let’s start with a short introduction about Italy, in case you are not well informed about this country.

Italy, southern European country with a population of around 60 million, is worldwide considered as one of the most culturally and economically advanced countries. With an ancient story behind, it’s a first-choice destination for tourists and students coming from all around the world.

Ok, let’s zoom now into the reasons why you should choose Italy where to study.

As you probably know already, Italy hosted ancient populations such as Greek and Romans, making the European and world history over the years. That means you can walk through Italian streets, and still admire amazing architectures, fountains, monument and ruins where you feel literally part of a parallel historical period. Moreover, Italy hosted periods like Renaissance, fascism and world word II. For this reason, you’ll have the chance to enhance your cultural know-how by visiting old spots, talking with experts as well as tasting in real life what you have studied or read on books.

One day I decided to ask around worldwide students based now in Italy what was their feeling about studying and living in Italy.

I discovered most of them are not only extremely fascinated by Italian background but also deeply willing to keep studying in Italian Universities.

Politecnico di Milano, Italy

Weather & Geography

Because of the strategical position in the south of Europe, Italy has one of the best climates in the world. Generally, the weather is quite mild. However, spacing from the North to the South, you can literally find different climates. For instance, if you’re living in the North, close to the Alps, you’ll find the typical cold weather of the mountains. In the centre, you’ll have a super mild one (except for summer: it’s quite warm!). Reaching the South, you’ll find the sun basically 365 days with hot (but windy) summer and chill autumn/winter.  As you have probably got reading above, Italy hosts any kind of surroundings: mountains, lakes, sea, hills, rivers and so on…

In simple words: you’re spoiled for choice!

Pizza, Pasta and… Vino

Ok, when it’s time to deal with food and wine, Italy scores the highest point. If you decide to go to study in Italy, your lifestyle in terms of food will change. In fact, you can find and eat amazing recipes, starting from the authentic Neapolitan pizza to a tasty pasta Carbonara and Sicilian Arancini. All this followed by high quality white and red wines.

Don’t forget the quality of Italian ingredients! Above all, you’ll find good quality ones even in supermarkets and small food stores. That means have a healthy lifestyle, even important while studying (and taking exams!).

Italian food. Classic thin pizza with large sides, prosciutto, cherry tomatoes, arugula, parmesan cheese. Serving dishes in a restaurant on a white plate with red wine.

Many people recognize Italian as one of the best languages to learn and speak. I tell you in advance: the Italiano is quite hard to learn because of its complexity, but as you are in the mood you’ll sooner or later get it. You just need to meet up Italian people and you’ll surely have the chance to speak and learn step by step.

Italy, as most of the Mediterranean countries, is well known for its sense of hospitality to foreign people who decide to live there. Above all, if you’re a student just arrived in Italy, you’ll find positive vibes and people will be welcoming with you. In a few words: you won’t feel alone or excluded while living your experience in Italy. Moreover, if you choose to study in a universitarian city such as Pavia, Bologna or Pisa, you will live a great experience in terms of hanging out with new people and embrace the Italian culture.

High-Quality Universities

Italy is also well-known for its universities spread in all the peninsula. Spacing from the north to the south, you can find good universities in terms of:

  • Level of education
  • Structure
  • Professors
  • Network

In this blog we can highlight especially Universities around Milan, which is known for all of the above in high quality. E.g. Politecnico di Milano for more Engineering programs, Universita Cattolica for e.g. Agrifood Engineering, NABA for Design or closeby University di Pavia for their wide variety of courses from Finance to Medical BioTech and NeuroBiology. They all offer different types of courses from in three formats:

  1. Full-Time MBA
  2. Part-Time MBA
  3. Flex Executive MBA (i-Flex).

The last one we would like to highlight as a nice alternative to Milan´s Universities. Vibrant Pavia is a student-town just 35km outside of Milan offering lower rents and cost of living whilst getting great education. The University of Pavia, founded in 1361, is a secular higher education institution and one of the most prestigious universities in Italy. University of Pavia is part of the select group of ‘Medieval Universities’, consisting of the oldest universities in the world that were also founded in the Middle Ages. Thus, the reputation of the University of Pavia precedes it, graduating over the centuries alumni capable of leading their very own industries.

Art – Fashion – Literature

If you’re interested in art and fashion, Italy is definitively the right place for you. In fact, Italy hosts amazing museums and galleries where to appreciate the best paintings and works. Just to mention some of them; Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, and so on. Same scenario for Italian authors like Dante Alighieri, Italo Calvino and Gabriele D’Annunzio. Finally, even the fashion environment (Milano for instance) in Italy is quite famous.  Concluding, besides studying you’ll have the chance to discover one of the most valued and famous cultures in the world.

Study in Italy is an experience you should not miss!

A personal goal is an aspiration or hope for a particular outcome that is entirely specific to you as an individual.

If a student wants to achieve a milestone of success in their personal life or in their education, then they may set a handful of personal goals to get themselves to that point.

Click here for more information about how to set and achieve your own realistic goals.

  1. Finish Homework and Assignments Early

Homework helps students of all ages learn how to manage their time and learn to be proactive. It is also a great way to help students deal with the stress of school, while also encouraging them to plan their time.

While the overall goal is related to education, being able to finish work in advance is much more of personal achievement because it only serves to benefit the student. It is also a complete discipline of practice.

  1. Make Your Voice Heard

Speaking up in class or asking questions is a critical part of student life. Not only will it help you to develop your knowledge, but it will also help you to build some self-confidence. You might also be able to see the value in making a contribution to a group discussion about any topic. After all, there are no wrong answers!

If you are uncomfortable with speaking in front of many people at once, you can approach your teacher or a smaller group of people so you are still having a relevant discussion about particular topics and ideas.

  1. Applaud And Encourage Others

Learning how to appreciate and acknowledge the successes of other people will make you a great friend, a nice person, and an even better student. It might even inspire others to do the same for you when you need it the most.

This is the most open-ended goal on this list since you cannot predict how successful your friends will be. Nevertheless, it still stands.

Encouraging others in their pursuits also allows you to provide a visual reminder that they have the power to learn and succeed. This has a much greater impact when used in moderation after students have been able to achieve key milestones in the classroom

  1. Keep Everything Organized

Keeping your locker spotless and organized will help you in school and your day-to-day life. Not only will it save you some time but it also means that you’ll have full control over your own personal space.

Being organized will also help you to remain on track. This may give you the opportunity to set out – and eventually achieve – the grades you rightfully deserve or maybe something more general like keeping productivity levels up.

Whichever way you choose to be a more organized person, you will likely find that your ability to communicate and collaborate with others will have improved, too!

  1. Find The Perfect Study Method

Taking the time to understand your thought process and working out the strategies that best work for you can be useful in a personal and professional capacity. Experimenting with different study systems is a useful exercise that will help you figure out exactly what works for you.

You could try:

  • Setting up a private study space
  • Planning frequent breaks
  • Making detailed notes
  • Starting a study group
  1. Create Realistic Aims

Student goals will be most successful when they are set up entirely by the student themselves. Parents and teachers can provide all the helpful guidance in the world to students in regard to goal setting and monitoring progress. However, it’s up to the student to do the majority of the work.

Essentially, if you’re the student, you should aim to set clearly defined goals that test your boundaries but don’t push you uncomfortably past your limits. You will be more likely to achieve your goals if you do this!

  1. Find A Mentor

Mentor figures can give you insightful information into life after education. They may even be able to give you detailed information about the type of career you hope to end up in. Your mentor can provide you with insider tips and advice for landing this type of job and may even be willing to share a personal account of things they would have done differently.

  1. Networking

Reaching out to a mentor can help your professional, educational, and personal development. However, it might also teach you some valuable networking skills that you can take with you into other facets of life.

Joining student societies, attending talks, and volunteering are all great ways to network with your peers.

Students can set as many personal goals as they want. As long as they are relevant, achievable, and will have some type of benefit – the sky truly is the limit!

As a student, you’re learning every day and thinking about your future. You’re also probably full of ideas, and maybe you’ve got a great business idea – maybe more than one!  But what do you do with that idea? Can it make money? In this article, we’ll talk about how the idea of one college student turned into a multi-billion-dollar public company called Under Armour.  (You may have heard of it.) We’ll also discuss how you can start a business and make a profit.

The Under Armour Story

In the mid-90s, Kevin Plank was a fullback at the University of Maryland and was frustrated by having to wear t-shirts under his jersey that constantly become sweat saturated.  He realized, though, that his compression shorts stayed dry, so he has an idea for a t-shirt made with moisture-wicking synthetic material. After graduating, he created his first prototype and started his business from his grandmother’s basement.

To found the company, he used his savings account funds which he had earned by selling t-shirts at games, and he ran up some credit card debt – he was broke at this point. Then, a year after founding the company he had his first sale to Georgia Tech for $17,000. After that, he had sales to two dozen NFL teams and had earned a total of $100,000. His first big break, though, came when he was asked to outfit characters in the movies Any Given Sunday and The Replacements.

Sales took off from that point, and after 10 years, the company went public, and today the company has over $5 billion in sales per year.

How you can learn to Make a Profit from your Idea

First of all, there are many business idea guides that you can read that will walk you through the process of starting almost any type of business from idea to launch.  They will teach you the nuts and bolts of starting a business from scratch.

However, you first need to research and refine your idea. You need to make sure your business idea is a real opportunity. Look at other companies that offer something similar and see how successful they are. You need to find a way to make your business unique so it will stand out from the competition. You also need to determine who your target market will be. Who is most likely to buy what you’re offering and where will you be able to reach them? You should also research your industry forecast to see if it’s growing or in decline.

More importantly, though, you need to test the market for your idea, to make sure it’s solving a problem, and that people will pay for that solution. You cannot just assume that people will buy what you’re offering.

Kevin Plank’s idea came from trying to solve his own problem – sweaty t-shirts – and the solution worked for him. He also gave his new shirts to former teammates, who also liked his product. He was, in effect, testing the market.

With your idea, if you can create a prototype of your product or service and test the market by letting people use it, you’ll get real feedback that will tell you if you have a viable idea. It will also tell you how you can improve your offering.

If you don’t have the funds to create a prototype, you can just talk to people. Ask family and friends for their honest feedback about your idea.  You can also hold a focus group where you invite people that you don’t know to come together and give you input. This way you are testing the market before you spend any money at all.

This is important because the last thing you want is to spend time and money building a product that no one will buy. Skipping this step is a common mistake among entrepreneurs, and they learn the lesson the hard way. They go through the entire startup process, take their product to market, and then – bam. Nothing. The problem was that they made assumptions about what people wanted, rather than researching and testing the market.

Think Money

Once you know that you have a viable idea, you need to make sure that it’s financially viable. You need to determine exactly what you need to spend money on before you can start selling. You’ll have the cost of making your product or preparing to offer your service, and costs for things like business registration, insurance, and business licenses. You may also have equipment costs or supply costs, and software costs. Then you’ll have to spend some money on marketing.

Create a spreadsheet listing all potential costs and estimate the cost for each item. Then you’ll know if you have enough funds, or if you need to apply for a business loan or seek other financing. If you would like to get more details on Gross-, Net sales, taxes, cost of goods and track your financial situation see these financial statements template.

Then, you’ll need to determine your prices. Research the market to see what competitor prices are. You also need to look at what your product costs to make and price your items high enough to make a reasonable profit. Then, examine how much you can reasonably expect to sell and how much revenue you can bring in on a monthly basis. Also, look at what your monthly costs will be.

From this, you can determine how much you need to sell to break even and how much profit you will make at various sales levels. At this point, you’re trying to figure out if you can realistically have a financially sustainable company.

In Closing

Under Armour started with nothing but an idea, and it’s grown into a multi-billion-dollar company. You too can turn a business idea into profit. You just need to do your homework first. Research the market and the financial viability of your idea before you do anything else. If you find that it is viable, go back to those business idea guides and learn the steps to take during the startup process. If you learn that your idea is probably not viable, no worries! Move on to the next idea, and never give up.

It is no secret that most students would choose a webinar over an hour in a lecture hall. Most people would pass on an opportunity that has them seated and listening to a speaker for more than two hours. All you would receive is a basketful of ‘no, thanks.’ But can you blame them? After a long time of excruciating long hours of being seated in a lecture hall, it is time to change history.

Webinars have proven to be very important over the years to students. A chance that offers you to take a 360° turn on your life must not be denied. Most will agree that webinars have powerfully impacted their lives, and some still do not see the tremendous impact. It is time to have the minority join the majority. The following are reasons why webinars are important.

1.  Webinars encourage interaction.

Who said you could only meet new people when you travel to a new place? If the slightest motivation builds your excitement to attend a webinar, it should be the idea of new people. Webinars offer the largest platform for students to meet other students and interact and share information. It allows students to challenge one another by acquiring competitors and friends from various dimensions. Not to mention, your list of friends shall go skyrocketing in a day. Moreover, you can hardly have too many chums.

2.  Webinars improve the learning experience.

Professional essay writers at CustomWritings have researched and proved how webinars changed the learning experience, and we can only nod in approval. Schooling must not only revolve around the classroom. There should be a bit of play, activities and other involvements. This is where events such as webinars come in. The goal of the education process is to improve a person’s life.

However, this is hard to achieve if the knowledge in school cannot be applied. Webinars allow students to see a different dynamic of academic life and how it aids in their maturity process and life improvement. Through webinars, students can be coached into witnessing the essence of what is taught, and soon enough, flowers bloom in their minds and become very promising and motivated.ç

3.  Webinars are easy to use.

Most schools integrated software such as Zoom long before the Covid-19 period. Who would have thought that the learning experience would hardly involve students stepping into a classroom for almost a year? With grave situations come grave measures.

Webinars have proven to be very attractive in use due to their lack of complexity. Anyone aged 5 or 6 can successfully work his way through a webinar without too much trouble. The ease of use has boosted students’ morale, getting them excited about their learning sessions. Not to mention how they are easier to access on smartphones and laptops. That is a student’s dream!

4.  Webinars allow for flexibility.

How many times have people had to miss class just because they caught the flu? The risk of infecting your classmates will have you sleeping at home, and you end up missing your favorite subject. If most schools had accustomed webinars into their school routines, the narrative would have been different now.

Webinars have offered the flexibility no physical class could ever have. Attending classes comfortably in bed has been the fantasy for every student, and now, it slowly unfolds before their eyes like a new bud. Through webinars, students can converge by clicking a button to learn from various parts of the world. Studying does not have to stop because students cannot unite in class. When the going gets formidable, get tougher.

5.  Webinars reach a large audience.

Lecturers would often hear no end to students’ laments in a crowded lecture room. They face so many challenges and limitations when tackling such a large number. However, there is only so little they can do in such a situation, as it was unavoidable. Then comes webinars, the antidote to all possible teaching problems.

Webinars have saved teachers the trouble of going through the challenge of raising their voices to be heard by everyone in a crowded room. It is possible to merge more than one class through a webinar, as the message to be passed is delivered diligently without much interference. Students can also enjoy the sessions comfortably without distractions that may have occurred had they been in a class setup. If given a chance, lecturers would find no end to words of gratitude to the creators of webinars.

6.  Webinars are inexpensive.

There have to be at least three people that have nodded in approval to this point. Physical learning is costly to the parent and the school. There is so much required of students to succeed in this kind of learning. Transport to school is one case to tackle, not to add the plenty of academic material and classroom setup that has to be there for a school to be brought to life.

Webinars allow the students’ concentration without a necessity in all the mentioned. A laptop and an internet source are paramount for a student to go forth and crack the new venture of academic learning. It offers a favorably different dynamic that leaves the students lasting for another accommodating experience.

7.  Webinars allow you to save and watch a session later.

What more would anyone wish for if not such an opportunity? All learning problems have been brought to a satisfying end. The guilt of not attending a class is no more since you can record it and catch up with your lecture as soon as you find the time. What would never be deemed possible has been eased through the internet. Not only can you record a class now, but webinars also have features that allow students to schedule a time to discuss. Talk about convenience!

8.  Webinars are a great source of knowledge.

Essay writing often feels like a chosen calling to students, and most of them feel like they were not cut out for it. However, many have attested that after seeking academic writing help from various writing services, it is astounding the amount of information they lacked through the experience.

The same applies to webinars. Most students have discovered plenty of information through webinars. This is because being accustomed to their use allowed them to find plenty of data webinars. An academic writing expert, Lauren Bradshaw, quotes that the wildest fires begin with an aggressive spark. With enough effort, you may start the quest for knowledge.

The words to stress the importance of webinars can easily overflow an ocean. In the few words written, it is clear what an impact webinars have had in modern society. So smile and wait for your next webinar, knowing its remarkable effect on you.

From Paul Petrone, LinkedIn-er, Author of “How I Found Peace: 14 Revelations That Cleared My Mind”

Here’s a few things you won’t see in any class that’s part of the University of Central Florida’s Integrated Business Program, which launched in 2016 –

  • A textbook.
  • A professor lecturing to the whole class for more than 15 minutes.
  • Tests of memorization.
  • Solo assignments with specific instructions.

Here’s what you will see –

  • Online resources, watched before classes, not during.
  • Mandatory attendance, although no credit given for attendance.
  • Students in teams, working together on ambiguous problems.
  • Coursework on topics like sales, presenting and writing strong emails.

In the four years of the Integrated Business Program’s existence, it’s grown in popularity each year. In 2020, it had more than 1,300 students – making it the most popular business major at UCF, the second-largest public university in the US – largely because it has the second-best placement rate of any business major at UCF, only behind accounting.

“When we launched this, it was met with a healthy amount of skepticism,” said Jim Gilkeson, the man who has led the program since its inception. “That skepticism has pretty much all gone away.”

Why has it been so successful? Because, according to Gilkeson, the goal of the Integrated Business Program is not to create “22-year-old experts.” Instead, it’s to arm students with foundational skills that span across any business, like critical thinking, presenting and leadership – so graduates come out of it ready for the working world.

How the program started – a new offering for at-risk students.

Before 2016, UCF was consistently seeing business students who struggled in their specialization also struggle to graduate on time and find a job after school. For example, if a business student specialized in accounting but did poorly in accounting courses, they were unsurprisingly unlikely to graduate in four years and then get a job as an accountant.

Rather than continuing this trend, UCF now requires business students who want to specialize in a specific area to maintain a strong GPA in courses in that specialty. That means, if you want to specialize in accounting, you have to maintain a B-average in accounting courses.

But that left an outstanding issue – what about the business students who didn’t maintain the B average in their specialty? Well, enter Gilkeson, who was given the mandate to create the new program in 2015, with it launching in the spring of 2016.

He started scoping the program by doing something he considers rare in academia – “we went to the outside and asked for help.” Specifically, he asked successful UCF alumni what they wished they learned in college; he also asked large Florida employers what skills recent graduates tend to lack.

Neither group mentioned a specific hard skill. Instead, both groups highlighted soft skills as the biggest gap; namely teamwork, leadership, written communication, presentation, critical thinking and the like. When hard skills were named, they were business processes that span industries and job titles, such as project management and sales.

Additionally, Gilkeson did research into pedagogy and quickly realized lectures were “one of the worst ways to convey information to someone else.” And, he wasn’t a big fan of textbooks either, as they weren’t continually updated and they were generally limited to one perspective – the author’s – and one subject.

Based off that, the Integrated Business Program was born. It featured:

  • Professors with extensive business experience.
  • A completely flipped classroom, with almost no lecturing.
  • An emphasis on foundational soft skills.
  • A focus on team assignments, not solo ones.
  • A set of required courses (project management, sales, human resources management, data driven decision making, etc.), not a bunch of options or electives.
  • Online learning resources, including LinkedIn Learning, which are continually updated, cover many topics and feature a diverse set of perspectives.

“We are training students for the jobs that exist today, not the jobs that existed 30 years ago,” Gilkeson said. “We aren’t creating specialists, nobody hires a 22-year-old expert. We want students to be nimble.”

It started as a program for at-risk students. That’s since changed, as the Integrated Business Program has quickly become one of the most sought-after majors at the university.

A look at the program today – demanding, intense and well worth it.

The UCF students we interviewed fully admit – the Integrated Business Program is demanding and, at the start, even intimidating. For a population used to sitting in a lecture hall and taking notes, it’s a completely different experience, with attendance required and fast-paced team projects done in each class.

“At first, it was a big difference from what I was used to; it was a big change from the usual college course,” student Gabriel Santiago said, who worked various business jobs while earning his degree. “But I started seeing how much more applicable it was to what I was doing in my job. It really prepares you.”

“The program has been different than what I expected,” fellow student Melissa Thomas said. “You need to be prepared to do the work of four people. But it provides such meaningful life and work experience.”

For a good example of what it’s like, take a look at Professor Shelley Maccini’s class, Data-Driven Decision Making. Maccini – who like most of the faculty in the Integrated Business Program, spent most of her career in the private sector – gives students two group assignments each class.

The assignments start with some dataset – say, for example, a company’s sales numbers for the first quarter of 2020. From it, students get together in teams to analyze the data, see what story it’s telling and then make a recommendation based off of it.

Students make their recommendations via a presentation to the entire class. Classmates and Maccini then give real-time feedback on that presentation.

Tools like Microsoft Excel and even Tableau are often needed to analyze the data, but they aren’t taught in the class. Instead, students are expected to master those tools on their own from online resources like LinkedIn Learning.

“I find it easier to use LinkedIn Learning than trying to learn something like Excel in a lecture,” Santiago said. “This way I can watch the video, pause it, and practice as I go along.”

By the end of the class, students are more confident in their ability to analyze data, Maccini said. But they are also more confident in presenting and selling their ideas.

The strengthening of those soft skills is often what sets Integrated Business majors apart from other college students. An example that illustrates the point – Gilkeson said he had a man who runs 27 Enterprise-Rent-a-Car locations around Orlando join his advisory board unsolicited.

Why? Because, three times in a row the man looked to fill a position in his management training program, and three times in a row the standout candidate in the applicant pool was a graduate of UCF’s Integrated Business Program. The man was so impressed, he wanted to see how it was done – and joined up with Gilkeson to further improve the program.

Not that Gilkeson or his students were surprised by that story.

“The program is not for everyone,” Thomas said. “It’s demanding, you learn a lot quickly. But, if you were to interview 30 graduates with 30 different degrees for a job, an Integrated Business major would shine the most.”

Creativity and innovation are crucial for success in almost any area of professional activity, and students try to develop them through their college courses. One of the most common assignments that aim to develop these qualities is creating an original essay. However, limitations on this assignment make it more difficult than it can seem. For instance, essay topics can be pretty general, and students need to discuss well-known arguments or ideas repetitively to make them look more innovative. Still, the AI writing service can provide additional support for students who need to solve the originality issue.

AI creates innovative and original essays — myth or reality

AI has become helpful in many areas of people’s everyday lives – we use it without noticing while scrolling through our social media feeds or typing our questions into search engines. Still, the AI’s ability to create something new and original remains a developing feature. Aside from the philosophical aspect of this question, the practical application of AI for creative purposes includes using it as a free essay writer as well. Although the mechanism of this ability may seem strange for a person that is not familiar with the AI functioning and organization, here are several benefits of the AI-based essay writing service:

  • The originality of content. The AI can improve the text’s originality and inspire discussing a well-known idea in a new and unexpected way. As many essay topics can repeat within different courses or partially resemble one another, students can need help with rephrasing and re-expressing their ideas, and the AI writing service may be helpful in this case.
  • Broad database. The AI quickly processes numerous sources in the topic chosen and makes it quicker than an ordinary writer. Although a person can know a lot, their memory can sometimes fail, while the same can hardly happen to the AI. Thus, the AI service information sources are almost uncountable.
  • Automatization of services. Automatization makes the essay creation process more convenient and less time-consuming. Besides, it reduces the probability of errors or losses during the essay delivery process.

Consequently, the auto writer for essays is a reality rather than a myth. Nevertheless, improvement is possible, as the current AI does not possess the level of abstract thinking compatible with the human one. Unwritten essays need checking and reviewing to avoid accidental stylistic or clarity issues. However, they are based on the variety of sources available and have a high degree of originality, so students who struggle with the creation of innovative works can use them as a help for their studies.

The best writing service for when you need a rewrite

Essay topics sometimes can be repetitive, especially when it comes to consequent courses that follow one after the other. Although professors will teach you new writing techniques and improve your skills, they need to check what you have learned before. Sometimes, you have written the essay on the same topic, and you would like to use the same arguments and thesis statement – but you need to submit original work. It is possible to create an entirely new essay from scratch, but this approach can be time-consuming and exhausting, especially when you have other courses to complete, so using essay help can be a helpful decision.

An essay rewriter can help you solve this problem and create an original essay using AI algorithms. Considering the similar content of numerous writing courses available in different colleges and universities, the topics of the essays can be partially comparable as well. The AI uses these essays as a basis to “learn” essay-writing and create an original text based on them. Of course, the writing process includes not only parsing and mixing, but processing of new information to reach desired essay structure and complexity.

Nevertheless, such an essay rewriter is not a complete replacement for the human writer, as it simplifies the writing process and facilitates reaching the originality of the text, but it does not create a work-ready for the submission. Academic integrity requires students’ authorship of the text, which applies to using AI-based services. In this case, you can use the essay writing service to analyze your writing quality or make it more innovative, but it’s not a thing you can ask “write my essay for me.” It is possible to create original content using one’s effort, and the AI service provides valuable help in reaching this purpose.

How innovative content can help you succeed as a writer or student

An innovative approach and original content are vital for writing a good essay. The essay structure can differ depending on the specific purpose and style required, but an original idea creates a core of the text that becomes the central point of its development. Although the idea itself can be relatively straightforward, such as “Global warming is dangerous for our planet” or “Smoking leads to a higher risk of cancer and cardiovascular diseases,” it is essential to explain it originally to avoid repetitions or unintentional plagiarism. Here is advice that can help manage this job without additional struggles:

  1. Create a simple outline. If your outline contains primarily general and widespread thoughts, it’s okay. This is the moment when you build up the silhouette of your future essay, so there is no need to aim for perfection at the moment.
  2. Think about your arguments. You need to find unexpected and persuasive arguments to persuade your readers about the validity of this viewpoint. Peer-reviewed journals or governmental statistics, proper source referencing, and a clear writing style can come in handy for this purpose.
  3. Rephrase the ideas of your writing. However, to reach originality, you need to find your words that will not copy the sources you have drawn inspiration from when writing your essay. Try to find other phrases or structures and preserve only terms or citations if necessary.

To reach more impressive results in creating original essays, you can use the help of originality online writing services. These services can screen through numerous papers available and help you rephrase your text and increase its originality. Nevertheless, it is important to check the essay thoroughly after using these services. Although the AI is skilled enough to create meaningful, comprehensive, and original texts according to users’ requests, minor errors rarely occur. Still, using AI services is a convenient way to improve the originality of your writing.

Nike, Gucci or Facebook already have job offers for the metaverse, which anticipates great potential for certain types of new virtual professions

By live silver 02/03/2022

If tech companies have their way, the next iteration of the Internet will involve heavy use of augmented and virtual reality for gaming, entertainment, socializing, and work. Pundits aren’t necessarily convinced by the hype given to the metaverse, but Meta, currently a €770 billion company(a bit less than a couple of days ago..) is betting its future on this idea. Grayscale, a cryptocurrency asset manager, estimates that the metaverse could represent a $1 trillion annual revenue opportunity between ads, digital assets and events. And where there is earning potential, there are jobs for those with an appetite for adventure.

In October, Meta announced plans to hire 10,000 people to help build the metaverse in technical fields such as engineering, design, and product management. Daniel García, founder of Cryptoavatars, explains how he has managed to make a living designing avatars and virtual settings for the metaverse At the time of this writing, Facebook has 25 job postings that explicitly mention the metaverse. These include that of a hardware product manager who helps create new devices such as augmented reality smart glasses and other wearable devices, and that of a director of technical program management who “drives the development” of worlds, content and avatars of the metaverse.

Andy Wilkinson, Facebook’s recruiting director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, recently told Business Insider that the company sees the metaverse as “the next version of the internet.” Separately, Microsoft has a job opening for a senior program director for its Mesh virtual reality platform. The job posting reads: “Our technology goes beyond screens and pixels, creating a new reality meant to bring us closer, whether scientists ‘meet’ on the surface of a virtual Mars or through some other possibility. even imagined.”

Roblox , the wildly popular game and virtual world creation platform, is even deeper into the metaverse, adding this term to the 258 open positions for the company. Javier Arrés, from serving drinks to earning more than a million euros as a crypto artist: “NFTs are a misunderstood technology” These range from engineering to talent recruitment. High-level Roblox employees earn more than $400,000 in base salary, and Chief Technology Officer Daniel Sturman has explained that all positions are “geared toward enabling metaverse experiences.” Although most of the roles mentioned focus on creating each company’s version of the metaverse, experts believe that new jobs could emerge from the metaverse itself. “The applications that we are seeing now that have a gamification component, which is a clear value,” says UCL professor Jean-Philippe Vergne. “Online video games, clearly, fashion shows and entertainment-related events like virtual concerts, 3D concerts and live music, things like that, are going to be the future.”

Nike has job openings in the US geared towards the metaverse, including a virtual materials designer to create Nike’s futuristic and virtual products, and a senior 3D game designer/metaverse engineer. Business Insider has already reported in detail on plans with Nike’s metaverse, especially in the wake of what remains black on white in its latest filed patents. “To think that by abandoning this real world to take refuge in a world without restrictions we can achieve happiness is misleading”, according to Carlos Blanco, one of the most recognized Spanish philosophers.

Fashion house Balenciaga has a vacancy for a meta business coordinator in Paris for its newly created metaverse department. Gucci is also looking for a Web3 manager in Milan to focus on NFT sales. Nick Pringle, creative director of the R/GA agency, anticipates “enormous business interest in these spaces.” This also underlines the rise of speculative assets such as NFTs while ideas such as players being able to earn cryptocurrencies or tokens while playing are taking hold. As fashion brands embrace the metaverse, more and more jobs will call for virtual event managers, immersion managers and product managers, says Pringle. “You’re going to need people who understand the nuances and sophistication of balancing both the virtual and real portfolios,” he says. “So we will see remarkable growth”.
